Sand Molds & Wax Patterns — One Machine, Twice the Value

Sand Mold Printing

  • Coated silica sand / ceramic sand — furan or phenolic resin binder systems
  • Layer thickness: 0.08–0.35 mm, adjustable for surface finish vs. speed
  • Direct mold-and-core printing — no pattern required
  • Ideal for: pump housings, impellers, engine blocks, manifolds, large valve bodies
  • Typical tensile strength: 1.5–2.5 MPa (comparable to traditional no-bake sand)

Wax Pattern Printing (Investment Casting)

  • PSB (polystyrene-based) wax powder — burns out cleanly with minimal ash

  • The LaserCore-5300 offers a larger build volume (700 × 700 × 500 mm vs 500 × 500 × 500 mm) and higher throughput (up to 300 vs 200 cm³/h) with an RF CO₂ laser (55W or 120W). Choose the AFS-500 for entry-level SLS or tighter floor space; choose the LaserCore-5300 for production throughput and the larger build envelope that handles mid-size molds, cores, and patterns.

  • Yes. It prints coated sand (silica or ceramic) for sand casting molds and cores, and PSB wax powder for investment casting patterns. You switch materials between builds — the changeover takes about 30–60 minutes. Many customers run sand during the day shift and wax overnight. In our own facilities, 14 LaserCore-5300 units run sand and 5 run wax around the clock.
