  • PSB (Polymer Styrene Binder) wax is our proprietary SLS wax material formulated for investment casting patterns. It is compatible with most common casting alloys: aluminum, steel, stainless steel, cast iron, copper-based alloys. For high-purity alloys such as titanium and nickel-based superalloys, we recommend PSB low-ash wax (<0.02% ash content) — the same material used in our aerospace customer programs. Both materials print on the same LaserCore machines with no hardware changes.

  • Both. Option A: We print and ship wax patterns to your foundry — you handle shell building, casting, and finishing. Option B: Full-service precision casting through our Rapid Casting service — we print the wax, build the shell, pour the metal, machine, inspect, and ship finished castings. Many customers start with Option A and transition to Option B for production runs or complex alloys requiring our in-house casting expertise.

  • Standard lead time: 3–7 business days from CAD approval. Rush orders can ship in 48 hours. This compares to 4–8 weeks for traditional wax injection mold fabrication. For recurring production orders, we can hold capacity to guarantee your delivery schedule — effectively functioning as your virtual wax room, without the overhead.

  • For prototype and small-to-medium production runs (1–500 pieces), SLS wax printing is significantly more economical because you eliminate tooling costs entirely. At ~$200/KG in wax material plus printing time, a typical automotive component wax pattern costs a fraction of the $5,000–$50,000+ injection mold. For very high volumes (>10,000 pieces), traditional injection molding may become more cost-effective per unit — at which point we can help you transition (and sell you the SLS printers for prototyping).
