Peaceful Elephant — 9m Monumental Sculpture
A 9-meter-tall elephant sculpture weighing 9 tonnes — one of the largest SLS wax mold investment castings ever produced. The segmented approach required 3D-printed wax mold clusters assembled with sub-millimeter precision. The 316L stainless steel provides permanent outdoor weather resistance without protective coating.

Art Casting FAQ
Traditional lost-wax requires an artisan to hand-carve or hand-model a wax positive from the artist original — a process that takes weeks for large or complex works and introduces human interpretation between the artist vision and the final metal. SLS wax mold printing eliminates this step: the artist digital model goes directly to the printer, which laser-sinters the wax pattern with micron-level fidelity. The result: faster turnaround, perfect fidelity to the digital model, and the ability to produce geometries (thin walls, undercuts, complex textures) that hand-carved wax simply cannot achieve.
We have produced a 9-meter-tall, 9-tonne elephant sculpture in 316L stainless steel — among the largest SLS wax mold investment castings ever made. For sculptures exceeding single-piece mold capacity, we use segmented printing and casting: individual wax mold clusters are printed, the metal segments are cast separately, then welded and chased to create a seamless final assembly. Our LaserCore-6000 builds wax molds up to 1050 x 1050 x 650mm per piece.
STL, OBJ, STEP, and IGES are standard. For artists working from physical maquettes or existing sculptures, we can 3D-scan the original and produce a digital model for wax mold printing. We also accept ZBrush and Blender native files. Our engineering team will review your file for printability and casting feasibility, suggest any optimizations (wall thickness, draft angles, parting lines), and provide a detailed quotation within 24 hours.
Yes. We produce sample patina panels on the same alloy and surface finish as your sculpture, which you review and approve before we apply the final chemical patina. Silicon bronze can achieve a wide range of colors: golden, brown, green (verdigris), blue-green, dark brown, and black. Stainless steel can be brushed, mirror-polished, bead-blasted, or electroplated.
Typical timeline: 1 to 2 weeks for wax mold printing (depending on size and segmentation), 2 to 3 weeks for investment casting and shell removal, and 1 to 2 weeks for metal chasing, welding assembly (if segmented), surface finishing, and patina.
