New Generation Sand 3D Printer

3DPTEK-J1800S Sand 3D Printer — Full 1.8 m Build, Pour-Ready Molds in Hours

The updated J1800S keeps the proven 1,800 × 1,000 × 700 mm build volume while cutting machine weight to ≈7 t and floor-load requirement to ≥2.5 t/m². High-speed vibration powder spreading, modular printheads and self-developed software turn your CAD file into a pour-ready sand mold — no patterns, no tooling, no 2–8 week waits.

What If Your Foundry Could Pour the Same Day It Receives the Design?

Traditional sand casting waits on wooden or metal patterns — 2 to 8 weeks before the first pour. The J1800S prints sand molds directly from CAD: design in the morning, mold in the afternoon, pour in the evening. That speed wins contracts.

Weeks-Long Pattern Lead Times

Pattern-making takes 2–8 weeks. The J1800S prints a complete sand mold in hours — you quote and deliver jobs your competitors cannot touch.

High Tooling Costs

Complex pattern tooling costs $5,000–150,000+. With the J1800S there is zero tooling — print exactly what you need, whether it is 1 casting or 1,000.

Design Constraints of Traditional Patterns

Undercuts, internal passages and thin walls are routine for the J1800S. Print complex mold geometries as easily as simple ones — no pattern-making compromises.

What the J1800S Delivers

A production-grade Binder Jetting sand printer engineered for foundries that need speed, reliability and precision — without a major building renovation.

Full 1.8 m Build, Lighter Machine

1,800 × 1,000 × 700 mm build volume handles medium-to-large castings in a single job — at ≈7 t with a ≥2.5 t/m² floor-load requirement, it fits more existing foundry buildings than comparable 1.8 m-class machines.

High-Speed Vibration Powder Spreading

The latest vibration spreading technology lays dense, uniform layers at up to 50 m/h — delivering higher mold surface accuracy and strength than traditional spreading, at 20–25 s/layer.

4 Modular Printheads at 400 dpi

A modular printhead system means each head is independently replaceable — if one head needs service, the others keep producing and the swap takes minutes, not days.

Foundry-Quality Mold Strength

±0.3 mm forming accuracy with 1.5–2.5 MPa mold tensile strength and 8–15 ml/g gas evolution — pour aluminum, copper, iron and steel with confidence.

From CAD to Pour-Ready Mold in 5 Steps

The J1800S compresses the entire pattern-to-mold workflow into a single digital process.

1

Send Your CAD

STL model of the casting — mold design and gating can be prepared by our engineers or yours.

2

Slice & Optimize

AFSWin3DP-L software slices the model and sets layer, binder and spreading parameters automatically.

3

Print the Mold

Vibration spreading and binder jetting build the mold at 20–25 s/layer — hours for most castings.

4

Cure & Depowder

Light curing and integrated powder recovery prepare the mold for assembly in the same shift.

5

Assemble, Pour & Finish

Assemble cope and drag with cores, pour the alloy, and shake out — a complete casting in days, not weeks.

Both machines print the same 1.8 m-class molds with zero pattern tooling. Choose the J1800S when floor space, weight and installation cost matter most; the J1800 remains the option when maximum throughput per printhead set is the priority. 3DPTEK engineers will recommend the right platform for your casting mix and building.

The Bigger Story: Patterns Are Optional Now

Whether you choose the J1800S or the J1800, you replace the pattern shop bottleneck entirely — no wooden or metal patterns, no 2–8 week lead times, no $5,000–150,000+ tooling investments. Design revisions become file edits, urgent jobs become same-week deliveries, and complex geometry stops being a pricing risk.

Why Foundries Choose the 3DPTEK-J1800S

Not just specs — here is what makes the difference in daily production.

30+ Years of 3DP & Casting Expertise

We developed our first additive manufacturing system in 1994 and have served foundries for over 20 years. The J1800S comes from the same platform lineage as the J1800, J2500 and J4000Pro — not a first-generation product.

Self-Developed Spreading & Software

High-speed vibration powder spreading and AFSWin3DP-L control software are both developed in-house — you get continuous process optimization instead of black-box third-party systems.

We Run What We Sell

3DPTEK operates smart manufacturing centers running J1800S and J1800 units in daily production. Every improvement is battle-tested on our own floor first — and you are welcome to visit.

Global Service & Spare Parts

On-site installation and operator training in 3–5 days, a 12-month warranty, remote diagnostics, preventive maintenance and a guaranteed consumables and spare-parts supply chain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions foundry buyers ask most before investing in a sand 3D printer.

  • The J1800S prints 1,800 × 1,000 × 700 mm per build with 4 modular printheads at 400 dpi. Standard print speed is 20–25 seconds per layer, powered by the latest high-speed vibration powder spreading for dense, uniform layers.

  • Both share the same 1,800 × 1,000 × 700 mm build volume. The J1800S is the updated platform: it weighs ≈7 t instead of ≈13 t, needs only ≥2.5 t/m² floor load instead of ≥3 t/m², and uses a modular 4-printhead system with the latest vibration spreading. It fits more existing foundry buildings with less foundation work.

  • The J1800S works with quartz sand and ceramic sand, using furan resin or phenolic resin binder systems. Printed molds reach 1.5–2.5 MPa tensile strength with gas evolution of 8–15 ml/g at 850 °C — suitable for aluminum, copper, iron and steel castings.

  • The print system uses a modular head design. Each head is independently replaceable, so a single head can be swapped quickly without taking the whole machine down or affecting the other printheads — minimizing production interruption.

  • Floor load capacity of at least 2.5 t/m², factory building height of at least 4.5 m, 380VAC/50Hz/10KW three-phase five-wire power, and clean dry compressed air at 0.6–0.8 MPa with minimum flow of 1.2 m³/min. Ambient conditions of 22–28 °C / 30–50% RH. Equipment footprint is 9,000 × 2,400 × 2,700 mm at ≈7 t including the powder cleaning system and two forming cylinders.

  • Yes. 3DPTEK operates J1800S and J1800 units in its smart manufacturing centers where you can inspect mold quality and talk with operators. We also offer free test prints — send your part file and we will print the sand mold on a production machine and ship it to you with a cost analysis.
